Because there are so many users on social media sites today, it's hard to say that you can keep anything from anyone. Even if you are not friends with a certain person, you may be friends with someone who is. Because of this situation, anything you post, hypothetically can be seen by, not only all of your friends, but all of the friends your friends decide to share it with. Even further, those friends can share it with all of their friends. On Facebook now, users have the option to "share" any post that one of their friends post. This is simply "reposting" what they just posted so that all of your friends can see it as well. This can cause some serious issues when people start posting hateful and judgmental posts about others. Things spread like wildfire on the internet and there's no stopping it. The only way to avoid it is to not post it.

Spreading Like Wildfire: Social Media Postings
Social media is often a place where users can freely express their feelings and thoughts. However, they don't often realize the whole extent to just how many people see their post. Often when I am on social media and about to post something, I think about who will see this post. When I think of this, I most often think of the people that I spend most time with like family and close friends. I do not often think of the other couple hundred people that I am friends with that will also see my post. I, along with many other people have this thought process when posting on social media. This is why we all need to be aware of, and watch what we post. What we say on social media can greatly affect someone even if we think it will never get back to them. In the long run, it always does! You can never hide anything on social media because of the large number of people that use it today.
